In order to improve our abilities to collaborate and fully realize the efficiencies that technology can provide, we offer the opportunity for all faculty and Instructional Assistant members of our school to complete the Google for Education certification Level 1. There is an option of completing the Level 2 certification as well.
See below for the specific information on the two Google Certifications available.
Google Level 1 Educator Certification is an online learning opportunity with a final task of a timed test at the completion of the professional development course. Level 1 educator certification provides an overview of Google Apps within an educational context, allowing for greater fidelity of use for students and teachers.
Start the Training: Even if you are an experienced user of Google Products, it is important to at least survey the training. Google is constantly updating its products and services and those updates are represented on the exam.
Review for the Exam: The exam is a long test with a 3-hour window. Without review, test-takers will run out of time. Use these task cards to help review for the exam and get your mind in the right gear.
Additional short practice questions
Understand how Google Apps for education supports teaching and learning. What tool would you use and when?
Review the end of unit questions
Review the major skills we learned.
Review the Skills Checklist

It takes several days to receive the results.
Google Level 2 Educator Certification provides a greater depth of understanding of the various Google platform options. The updated focus of Google Level 2 is the application of Google tools in education; not the acquisition of tool based skills. Again, the course culminates with a 3-hour exam. While it is possible to take it cold if you are experienced in the platform, there is great value in completing the training modules that lead to the exam.

This list of items is a helpful guide of what is referred to on the level 2 exam. You don’t need to know how to use some of the more obscure tools, but you need to know what they do (ie: Google Scholar).
